LEE, Mr. Robert E. "Bob"
Comstock, MI Bob passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family and friends on Oct. 31st 2009. Bob was born in Kalamazoo MI, on Jan 1st 1937 to Vernon Lee and Irene Smith Lee. He graduated from Comstock High School in 1955. He was an avid sportsman in every sense of the word. He loved the Detroit Lions and the Tigers. He loved to rabbit hunt with his beagles, but his last beagle Bo was only his best friend, along with his shih Tzu, Tina. Bob had many fishing and hunting buddies, along with his sons traveling yearly on his fishing and hunting trips. He loved to travel with his wife Lou in their Motor home, until his health declined. Bob rarely missed his children & grandchildren's sporting events and was proud of each and every one of them and their accomplishments. Bob never met a stranger and was very knowledgeable and wise beyond his years. Bob coached Little League baseball & Rocket football for years and really enjoyed teaching his sons and other children. It gave him much enjoyment. He also enjoyed taking his grandchildren fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his brother Fred, brother Bubby, and brother Bill Hambright. On October 2, 1961, he was united in marriage to Mary Lou McKenzie Lee who survives. Also surviving, sons Chris Barb Lee, Kenneth Lori Lee, Cindy Jim Denaway and Kelly Tom Haggard. Ten grandchildren, Zachary, Adam Denaway, Jason, Amber Lee, Clay, Paige Haggard, Bailey, Maeve, Ethan, and Chelsea Lee. Brother John Carol Lee, Kalamazoo, Joe Johanna Lee, Oregon, Sisters Alma Wes Hambright, Comstock, Iva Russ Montgomery, Comstock, Pat Don Buel, Comstock, Mary Bob Copeland, Plainwell, special friend Kenneth Shar Sims Kalamazoo, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bob retired from Georgia Pacific in 1999 after 40 years. Services will be held 1 o'clock Wednesday at the First Freewill Baptist Church, 630 Moline St. Visitation will be from 12-1pm Wednesday at the church. Interment will be in Comstock Cemetery. The family asks that donations be made to Borgess Visiting Nurse Association Hospice Program. The family would like to thank Borgess Nursing Home for the excellent care they gave Bob and the many friends he made while he was there.
