HARDY, Robert Charles Bob passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 18, 2015 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo surrounded by his family. He was born on October 13, 1929 in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Robert and Hazel Seaman Hardy. Bob was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict. On August 8, 1968, he was united in marriage to Sue K. Stillwell. Bob was employed as a teacher for Kalamazoo Public School for 35 years until his retirement, working mostly at Washington Elementary School in Kalamazoo. During his retirement, he volunteered working with students, traveling with family and friends, playing golf and spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Sue Hardy; their four children, Shane Hardy of France, Roberta Hardy of Tampa, FL, Kimberly Mark Duell of Mattawan and Matthew Amber Hardy of Kalamazoo; eight grandchildren, Benjamin, Auriane and Josephine Hardy, Alex Blaauw, Madison and Meghan Duell and Trinity and Alonna Hardy; brother, Edward Annette Hardy of Traverse City; brother-in-law, Frank Kocevar of Traverse City; sister-in-law, Betty Lou Hardy of Traverse City; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his brother, David Hardy; sister, Shirley Kocevar and nephew, Brad Hardy. A funeral service to celebrate Bob's life will be held at 11:00 Am on Tuesday, March 24, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street, Kalamazoo. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 PM on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to American Heart Association or West Michigan Cancer Center.
