Robert Francis Hall, known affectionately as Bob, passed away on November 12, 2023, at the age of 99 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was born on May 19, 1924, in Gambier, Ohio.

Bob settled in Maumee, Ohio in 1953 and maintained that home until relocating to Hemlock Lake in Hillsdale, Michigan. He lived a remarkable life filled with love, kindness, and adventure.

Bob was a hardworking man who took pride in all he did. He was multitalented in that he remodeled his Maumee home and his home at the lake. He could do electrical work and did a lot of woodworking projects like building garages, shelving units, cabinets, outdoor decks, and home additions. He was your guy if you needed your television fixed in the days before solid state. He thought everything through and was meticulous about how things were done and how things were stored.

He was known for his outgoing and friendly nature and his wonderful sense of humor. He always charmed those around him with his warm smile and personality. Bob's dedication to his work and his loved ones made him a beloved figure in the community.

Bob proudly served in the military – first in the Army from 1943 to 1944, and then in the Army Air Corps from 1944 to 1945. One of his proudest moments was when he was accepted into the Army Air Corps. His commitment to his country and his fellow soldiers was unwavering, and he spoke with great pride about his military associations. In April 2018, he was honored to be able to participate in the Talons Out Honor Flight, where the veterans are flown to Washington, D.C., to visit all the memorials.
After his military service, Bob embarked on a successful career in broadcasting. He worked as the supervisor of engineers at WSPD-TV in Toledo, Ohio, until his retirement in 1986. His expertise and dedication made a lasting impact on the industry.

In his free time, Bob enjoyed reading, golfing, fishing, engaging in watersports, and indulging in his love for playing cards. It wasn't a family gathering if there wasn't a card game involved. He cherished spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren at the lake, creating cherished memories that will be treasured for generations to come. He taught a multitude of people how to ski and was still skiing at age 70! Bob also had a passion for attending bluegrass festivals and exploring the vast landscapes of the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii.

Bob's family meant the world to him. He is survived by his children, Sandy (Richard) Cowels, Mark (Rhetta) Hall, and Leslie Hall-Taplin. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren and a great-grandfather to eleven. Bob also leaves behind multiple nieces, nephews, and close friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Mary (Flack) Earls; his father, Robert Francis Hall; his wife, and first love of his life, Sigridmae (Swaney) Hall; and the second love of his life, Flo Markwell. He was also preceded in death by his two sisters and two brothers, who shared many cherished moments with him.
To honor Bob's remarkable life, a celebration of life will be held in the spring. The details of the service will be announced at a later date.

Bob's legacy will be remembered through the love he shared, the kindness he showed, and the memories he created. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
