Died Saturday morning May 21, 2016. Robert was born January 15, 1923 in Jackson, Michigan a son of Kenneth and Florence (Martin) Gray. During WWII, he served with the U.S. Navy. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident most of his life and was employed with Welders Supplies and Gases for over 20 years, retiring in 1982. Robert was also a member of Parchment United Methodist Church; and the Otsego American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Barbara Owens; a brother, Richard Gray; and a nephew, Daniel Noppe. On September 4, 1948, he was united in marriage to E. Jean (Hume) Gray who survives. Also surviving, 4 children, Jacquelyn "Jackie" Thomas of Kalamazoo, Janet Rackley of Ft. Myers, FL, and James Gray of Paw Paw, and Douglas Gray of Otsego; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 11:30 Wednesday from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Memorials may be directed to the charity of your choice.
