CUMMINGS, Robert M.
Kalamazoo, Michigan Passed away Sunday, December 14, 2008. Robert was born May 27, 1930 in Battle Creek, the son of Cleotis and Genevieve Sturgeon Cummings and had been a resident of the Kalamazoo area for many years. He was a member of Sunnyside United Methodist Church, and had been employed as an engineer for 45 years, most recently with Summit Polymers. He had served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Robert was a cowboy at heart and worked in several cattle drives out West. He also participated in Project Dakota in the fall of 1984, a reenactment of cowboy's lives of 100 years ago. On November 5, 1951 he married Phyllis Aubil, who survives. Also surviving are their children, Steve Debby Cummings of White Lake, MI and Kim Charles Jones of Harrisburg, NC; their grandchildren, Chanon and Alek Cummings and Hunter Jones; a sister, Linda Martin Fox of Americus, GA; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, on Wednesday from 4-8 PM. A private family committal service will be held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
