BURR, Robert D.
Of Schoolcraft Bob passed away Monday afternoon, April 2, 2012 at Tendercare of Portage. He was born April 20, 1922 in Kalamazoo, the son of Fred and Bertha Crider Burr. Bob was a veteran of the United States Army serving in England during World War II. On May 21, 1948, he was united in marriage to Julia Marcelletti. Bob was employed by The Upjohn Co. for 28 years, until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Portage. Bob enjoyed photography and traveling and also fixed a lot of lawnmowers for his friends and family. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Julia Burr; their daughter, Carol Cook; two granddaughters, Carie Cook and Chrissy Russ Henderson; four great-grandchildren, Courtnie, Zachary, Nathaniel, and Lindsay Holmes; and two great-great-grandchildren, Caleb and Elijah. Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Harold; and grandson, Robert Cook Jr. Graveside services with military honors for Bob will be at 11:00 am on Thursday tomorrow at Schoolcraft Cemetery US 131 at Lyons St., Schoolcraft followed by a memorial service at 12:30 pm at First Baptist Church of Portage 1133 E.
