Bob passed away on Wednesday morning, January 31, 2018 at Borgess Medical Center. He was born on May 24, 1952 in Kalamazoo, the son of George F. and Lillian (LaValley) Blades. Bob was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Vietnam Conflict. He was an active longtime member of St. Monica Catholic Church. Bob will best be remembered for his kind and compassionate nature. On October 20, 1984, he was united in marriage to Patricia (Cooke) Blades, who survives. Also surviving are his daughter: Angie Blades; siblings: Janice Blades, John Blades, Kathy (Bill) Landerville, Terry Hatfield, Susan (Tom) Cope, Barbara Blades and Daniel 'David' Blades; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; and three siblings: George 'Jim' Blades, Charles 'Chuck' Blades and Beverly Anderson. Friends may visit with Bob's family from 4-8 PM on Monday, Feb. 5, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at St. Monica Catholic Church, 534 W. Kilgore Road. Fr. Larry Farrell will officiate. Family interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Monica Parish.
