BERRY, Robert John
Portage, Michigan Bob passed away on Sunday morning, March 22, 2015 at his home. He was born on October 18, 1930 in Detroit, MI, the son of John and Evelyn Dugal Berry. Bob graduated from St. James High School in Detroit. After graduating, he began working for National Bank of Detroit NBD/Chase Bank. In 1951, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he served 2 years, 1951-53, during the Korean Conflict. Following his service in the Army, Bob attended and graduated from University of Detroit. He also resumed his employed with NBD/Chase Bank, where he remained until his retirement in 1995 from the Portage Branch. On November 16, 1957, he was married to Barbara L. Smith Berry, who survives. Also surviving are five children, John Parris Berry, Richard Liz Logan Berry, Cynthia Berry, Sandra Randy Hoeksema, and James Deborah Berry; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Catherine Ron Donner and Barbara Dick Panasuk. Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Lawrence Berry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 27, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1150 W. Centre Avenue. Interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Friends may visit with Bob's family from 5-8 PM on Thursday, March 26, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or Disabled American Veterans.
