BECK, Robert B.
of Kalamazoo, Michigan Bob passed away Sunday morning, February 12, 2012 at Bickford Cottage in Battle Creek. He was born December 6, 1916 in Valparaiso, IN, the son of Walter and Gladys McGee Burlage and was raised by his mother and step-father, Gladys and William Beck. On October 14, 1937, Bob was united in marriage to the former Mildred "Billie" Seslar. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps serving during World War II as a B-25 bombardier/navigator based in Corsica. Bob was employed by The Upjohn Co. for over 40 years until his retirement in 1981. He and Billie enjoyed spending their retirement years traveling in their motor home. Surviving are his three children, Michael Kathy Beck of Ceresco, Mary Sue Beck of Kalamazoo and James Debbora Beck of Lakewood, CO; two grandchildren, Jennifer Scott Connelly and Ashley Beck; and two great-grandchildren, Sean and Ryan Connelly. Preceding him in death were his wife of 64 years, Billie Beck in 2001; his parents; and brother, Jack Beck. A memorial service for Bob will be at 11:00 am on Saturday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, where friends may visit with the family from 10:00 am until the time of service. Inurnment with military honors will be celebrated at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be directed to Kalamazoo Humane Society or Kalamazoo Animal Rescue.
