Of Portage, Michigan Rob passed away unexpectedly during surgery on Wednesday afternoon, September 3, 2008. He was born August 12, 1973 in Paw Paw, the son of Robert Barkman Sr. and Margaret Carlson. Surviving are his 2 children, Robert W. Barkman and Lacie Barkman; mother, Margaret Carlson of Kalamazoo; father, Robert Sr. Anne Barkman of Decatur; 1 brother, James Dana Barkman of Toledo, OH; 1 sister, Patricia Erik Weck of Delton; 5 aunts, Barbara John Markley of Ann Arbor, Betty Roger Peebles of Parchment, Sadie Payne of Gobles, Barbara Tim Sitar and Sandra Bennett both of Paw Paw; 1 uncle, Reinnier Sheryl VanBruggen of Kalamazoo; grandmother, Agnes VanBruggen of Parchment; former spouse and mother of his children, Laurie Hudson Barkman of Grand Rapids; 1 step-sister, Ginger Snook of Paw Paw; 1 step-brother, Larry Stafford Jr.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded him in death were grandparents, Reinnier "Red" VanBruggen, James O. Barkman, and Holger T. and Margaret Carlson. Funeral services for Rob will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday tomorrow at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, with Rev. James Dyke officiating.
