Portage, MI Passed away at her home on Monday, June 2, 2014. Age 70. Rita was born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada on November 9, 1943, the daughter of the late John Hanna MacKenzie and Mary Rita Hogan MacKenzie. After college she was employed by TJ Maxx as a Regional Manager. She attended St. Monica Catholic Church. She enjoyed painting, cooking, art, water skiing, traveling and playing cards. She enjoyed warm talks with her friends. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and her family was the center of her universe. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Jack W. Routley; her son, Jack W. Jessica Routley of Schoolcraft; two granddaughters, Madeline and Gretchen; brothers and sisters, Catherine and Frederick Smith of London, Ontario, Canada, John MacKenzie of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Donald MacKenzie and JoAnn Quinn of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, Ronald MacKenzie and Jackie Wood of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, Gerald & Maureen MacKenzie of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, Mary Ellen and Judgie Mangile of Amhersburg, Ontario, Canada and David and Kelly MacKenzie of London, Ontario, Canada; and a sister in law, Cathy MacKenzie of Windsor, Ontario, Canada. She was preceded in death by brothers, Kenneth MacKenzie and Brian MacKenzie. Friends may visit with the family from 12 - 2 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 East Centre Avenue, Portage, MI 49002. Following the visitation a graveside committal service will be held in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park with Rev. Fr. Lawrence M. Farrell officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of the donor's choice.
