PARSONS, Ricky A.
Of Kalamazoo, Michigan Ricky passed away Saturday, March 29, 2008. He was born August 10, 1966 in Vicksburg, the son of Gerald and Judy Powers Parsons. Ricky was a veteran of the United States Navy serving almost 12 years from 1985-1997. He was employed by Globe Construction in Kalamazoo and SSS Farms in Portage. Ricky was a hard worker. He enjoyed fishing and loved to debate with family and friends. On July 27, 1997, he was united in marriage to the former Terri Lindley, who survives. Also surviving are his son, Ricky Parsons Jr. of Reno, NV; his mother and step-father, Judy Chris Hastings of Portage; 2 step-children, Amber Doan of Climax and Thomas Doan of Climax; 6 brothers and sisters, Paul Parsons of Chicago, Kevin Parsons of Chicago, Jerry Parsons of Mattawan, Brenda Bill Gentner of Portage, Melissa Rupert Smith of Portage, and Kelly Hastings of Portage. Preceding him in death were his father, Gerald Parsons; and grandparents, Paul and Rita Parsons. Funeral services for Ricky will be at 11:30 AM on Friday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Climax Chapel, 205 E. Maple Street, with Pastor David Thompson, of Texas Corners Bible Church, officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
