WALTER, Richard J. "Dick"
Of Plainwell Passed away Friday morning, October 22, 2010. Dick was born June 13, 1937 in Sommerville, MA and was proud to say he was raised on Cape Cod. Dick was a pitcher with the Detroit Tigers until an arm injury forced him to discontinue pro baseball. He bowled in several major leagues in the Kalamazoo and Plainwell area, and had a high average of 211. Dick played the drums in several local bands; was the top hair stylist in Plainwell for many years; and was a member of the Otsego Moose. Surviving are his sons, Brent Walter of Portland, OR, Darin Walter of Los Angeles, CA; his sister, Joan Kitch of Flushing, MI; step-mother, Alberta Walter of York, PA; and many dear friends, including his longtime buddy, Skip "Wormie" Warner. A memorial service to celebrate Dick's life will be held Sunday November 21, 2010 at 2:00 at the Plainwell Lanes, 575 10th Street.
