of Three Rivers, Michigan Richard "Dick" Stone, age 80, passed away May 2, 2013 in Portage, MI. Dick was born January 28, 1933, in Detroit, MI, the son of Ward and Loretta EndrichStone and had been a lifelong Schoolcraft area resident. During the Korean War period he had served the U.S. Army. He was employed throughout the years as a salesman and had worked for A&P, Kalamazoo Food Service and General Mills. For many years he owned and operated a vehicle consignment lot on US 131. Dick had served as mayor of Schoolcraft from 1970-1982. On June 4, 1999, he was united in marriage to Jerri Wessels Stone who survives. Also surviving are his children, Janee Stone of Union City, Rick Stone of Vicksburg, Linda Bowers of Kalamazoo, Elizabeth Jim Sorko-Ram of Kalamazoo; step-daughters, Delann Himes Mike Ketcham of Vicksburg and Rebecca Matt Vosters of Martin; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; siblings, Delores Sampsell, Fred Jeanine Stone, Patricia Lewis, Phyllis Standard and Helen Ken Huckendubler; many nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his parents;step-mother, Ann Parks; siblings, Gladys Bouchers, Ralph Stone and in-laws, Chuck Sampsell, Albert Lewis, Jim Standard, Bud Bouchers, Vivian Stone. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 6th from 12-1 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. where funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM Monday. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South. Memorials in Dick's memory may be directed to a charity of your choice.
