STANDISH, Richard "Dick"
of Kalamazoo, Michigan Died Friday, May 2, 2008 at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. Dick was born December 25, 1943 in Kalamazoo to Arthur O. and Maxine Earle Standish. He was united in marriage to Denise Hart on June 12, 1976 in Kalamazoo, who survives him. Dick honorably served in the U.S. Navy until his retirement in August of 1991. Among his rewards and citations are, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Commendation Gallantry Cross and Vietnam Meritorious Unit Commendation Civil Actions. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign War. Surviving Dick are his wife, Denise; children, Richard A. Standish Jr., of Vicksburg, James Jenny Bailey Standish of Kalamazoo, Julie Justin Frost Standish of Kalamazoo and Adam Standish of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Dakota, Riley and Hayden; mother, Maxine; brothers, Terry Standish, David Sandy Standish and Brian Standish; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his father, Arthur; step-father, Charles P. Tabbia.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 7th from 4-7:00PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 13th, 11:00AM at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI. Arrival time at Ft. Custer must be between 10:45 - 11:00AM with all attendees lining up in the Cortege area. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be directed to the Battle Creek Veterans Hospital. www.langelands.com 343-1508
