POTEET, Richard R. "Tod"
Kalamazoo Passed away on January 28, 2008 at Borgess Hospital. Tod was born March 13, 1916 in Kalamazoo, MI, the son of Oscar and Lillian Poteet and had lived most of his life in the Kalamazoo area. He served as a Dental Technician in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was self employed most of his life as owner of Poteet and Sweitzer Aluminum Foundry for 20 years and then as owner of the Delton Cafe for 4 years and lastly for 22 years as owner of the Gull Rd. Tavern until his retirement. Tod was a member of the Hickory Corners American Legion Post #484. He was preceded in death by his wife Marguerite in 1996 and was also preceded by his parents and siblings Arthur Poteet, Betty Hawkins and Virginia Pattenaude. Surviving are a son Michael Sue Poteet of Kalamazoo; 2 grandchildren, Alan Poteet of Kalamazoo and Angeline Poteet of Shelbyville and by a sister Kathleen Parker of Kalamazoo; several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11 am on Thursday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Highway. Friends may meet the family on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the funeral home. A luncheon will follow the service with a graveside service to be held at 2 pm at Grand Prairie Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Tod may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
