Richard H. Kloet

KLOET, RICHARD H. Richard H. Kloet, age 89, went to "dwell in the house of the Lord forever" on October 4, 2012. Richard was born December 27, 1922 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son of Leonard and Maggie Schurman Kloet and was a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo. During WW II he served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Suissens. Richard was a charter member of the Westwood Christian Reformed Church. For many years he was involved in automotive sales and then established and operated Economy Auto Body until his retirement in 1989. Richard was an avid outdoorsman, who loved golf, tennis, hunting and boating. In 1943 he was united in marriage to Mildred Millard, who passed away in 1991; then in 1994, he was united in marriage to Barbara Hagadone, who passed away in 2011. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Stanley Kloet, a son-in-law, Jim Stapert and a grandson, Joseph Stapert. Surviving are his three daughters, Kathryn Stapert, Karen Joel Boot and Kristin Tom Hamernik; grandchildren, Kimberly, Michael, Kara, Melissa and Christopher Stapert, Andrea Robert Pospiech, Sarah Gregg DeMey, Rachel Jon Post and Elizabeth Tim Hoving; two stepsons, Thomas Pamela Miller Hagadone and Gerald Hagadone; step-grandchildren, Kate Lochlan O'Leary Hagadone and Jeanne Stephen Kemsley Hagadone; 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 8th from 11:00 to 12:00 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street, where a service to celebrate Richard's life will be held beginning at 12:00 PM Monday, with Rev. William Huyser officiating. An interment with full military honors will be held in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park North.
