HARRISON, Mr. Richard H., Jr.
Kalamazoo, MI Died Saturday morning March 22, 2014. Richard was born July 28, 1927 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a son of Richard and Jennie Humphries Harrison, Sr. During the Korean War, he served in Japan with the U.S. Air Force. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident since 1958 and was employed with Bronson Hospital for over 30 years, retiring in 1990. Richard was also a member of Westwood United Methodist Church; Southwest Michigan Pharmacy Association; American Society of Hospital Pharmacist; and the United Methodist Men's Group. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Foster Munson and Thomas Harrison; and 2 sisters, Geri Light and Donna Dunton. On November 9, 1952, he was united in marriage to Phyllis J. Snyder Harrison who survives. Also surviving, a daughter, Renae Brett Simmons of Kalamazoo; a grandson, Jason Casey Lane Mischen both of Kalamazoo; a great-granddaughter, Camille Mischen; a sister, Geneva Mills of Kalamazoo; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A memorial service will be held 11 o'clock Thursday at the Westwood United Methodist Church, 538 Nichols Rd. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Private burial will take place in Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Westwood United Methodist Church to the Alamo Nursing Home.
