FIELDS, Richard Lee "Shakey"
Of Portage Passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 19, 2010 in Ann Arbor. Richard was born October 5, 1941 in Indianapolis, IN, the son of David and Virginia Jett Fields. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army from 1965-1969. Prior to his retirement Shakey was employed with General Motors for 25 years. He was a lifetime member of the NRA; and the Portage American Legion; and enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and hunting. He also enjoyed spending time during the winter months in Texas. On May 30, 1998 he was united in marriage to the former Edna Ely who survives. Also surviving are his children, James Kathy Baker, Richard Jennifer Fields, Heather Fields; the mother of his children, Ruby Smith; step-son, Timothy Ewing; 2 grandchildren, Jace Fields and Macee Barber; and his brother, David "Doc" Fields. Services will be held at 11:00 o'clock Tuesday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre with Pastor Randy Burnett officiating. Friends may meet the family Monday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Portage Chapel. Private interment will be at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the charity of your choice. www.langelands.com
