Richard Eckert, Sr

ECKERT, Richard, Sr. Of Kalamazoo Passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at Kairos Dwelling. Richard was born August 13, 1928 in Lawton, MI, and has been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident. He was employed as a truck driver with Cherokee Express for 40 years prior to his retirement. On December 18, 1965 he was united in marriage to the former Julia Ann Bixler who preceded him in death on August 24, 2003. He was also preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Benjamin and James Eckert and a sister, Mildred Payne. Surviving are his son, Richard Eckert, Jr. of Kalamazoo; 1 niece and 1 nephew. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 12 from 5-8 pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. where Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Saturday with Dr. Nancy Martin Bailey officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Lawton. Memorials in Richard?s memory may be directed to Kairos Dwelling or West Michigan Cancer Center.
