Donovan, Richard Charles
Of Kalamazoo, MI Passed away at Borgess Hospital on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at the age of 82, surrounded by his family. He was born in South Bend, IN on November 8, 1930, the son of the late Frank and Louise Sattler Donovan. He was a graduate of St. Thomas Military Academy in St. Paul, MN, Notre Dame University and the Executive Program of Indiana University. He was employed as Vice-President/Treasurer with Lear Seating Corporation in Detroit, MI and served as President of Lear Siegler's Plastic Division in Mendon, MI. He was Past Trustee of Borgess Medical Center, the Family Health Center, Borgess's Nursing Homes. He was Past President of the National Association of Accountants - Kalamazoo, Past Director of the National Board of the National Association of Public Accountants, Past Member of the Diocesan Board of Education - both the Lansing and Kalamazoo Dioceses; Past President of the Kalamazoo Area Catholic School Board, Past President of the Board for Dillon Hall - St. Joseph sisters and Director of Caldwell Industries - Louisville, KY. He was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church and the St. Monica Usher Club, Notre Dame Club of Kalamazoo, the Kalamazoo Country Club, the Canyon Gate Country Club in Las Vegas, NV, the Institute of Management Accountants, the Notre Dame Sorin and Badin Guild and the Michigan State Beaumont Tower Society. He is survived by his wife Jacquelyn Bush Donovan, who he married on June 5, 1954 in Muskegon, MI. Richard and Jacquelyn have resided in Kalamazoo since 1963. Also surviving are his children, Michael William Jackie Scott Donovan of Holland and Mary Beth Donovan of Kalamazoo; sister, Pauline Donovan of California; brother, Thomas Patrick Carolyn Donovan of Florida; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Marge Bush of Dothan, Al; nieces and nephews, Susanne Thomas Chance, E. Christopher Janet Bush, Starla Allgood, Sandra Bush, Paul Julie Bush, Fredric Kay Bush, George Mary Donovan, Blair Ellen Stribley, and Mark Shelee bush; cousin, Richard Donovan; and many cherished special friends. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Edward and Virginia Bush. Friends may visit with the family from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St., where a Rosary service will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2013 at St. Monica Catholic Church, 530 W. Kilgore Rd. Fr. Larry Farrell will officiate. Memorials may be made to St. Monica Catholic Church, Retired Sisters of St. Joseph or a charity of choice.
