Richard C. Bauman

Richard C. Bauman, 94, passed away Wednesday September 23, 2020 surrounded by family at his home in Portage. He was born February 20, 1926 to the late John and Pearl (Wilhelm) Bauman. Richard was united in marriage to Marie Westenhiser on June 18, 1960.

Richard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marie, children John Bauman (David Houle), Sandra (Scott) Chew, grandchildren Iris and Rayford Chew.

Preceded in death by parents, John and Pearl Bauman, son Richard Bauman and sister Joanne Baldwin.

Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. He then became a Certified Public Accountant and retired after 37 years. He loved sports and golfing. He worked with Habitat for Humanity from 1984 until long after his retirement. Richard was also a Rotarian for 20 years and served as a Jr. Chamber of Commerce Member. He was a fantastic husband and father. Richard will be greatly missed.

Visitation with a 10-person at a time limit in the building will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 27th at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 622 S. Burdick Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. The funeral home and family respectfully ask that everyone wear a mask and social distance. The family will greet guests outside and encourage people to pay their respects to Richard inside and then kindly step back outside so others may enter. A Graveside Service will take place at 11:30 a.m., Monday, September 28, 2020 at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South, 3941 S. Westnedge Ave, Kalamazoo, MI 49008. Donations in honor of Richard may be made to The Dementia Society or Hospice Care of SW Michigan.
