BAILEY, Richard D. and Rosemary J.
Of Portage Dick passed away Saturday evening, July 17, 2010 and Rosemary passed away Monday afternoon, July 19, 2010 both at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. He was born April 26, 1925 in Kalamazoo, the son of Arthur Jr. and Wilma Schau Bailey. She was born June 13, 1927, daughter of Melvin and Marie Mathews Kilgore. Dick was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. On July 11, 1945, they were united in marriage and continued 65 years together. Dick was employed by National Water Lift for 32 years until his retirement in 1987 and was an Eagle Scout and past scoutmaster. Rosemary was employed by First National Bank for over 10 years and her hobbies included ceramics, arts and craft. She also enjoyed cooking and collecting cookbooks. Surviving are their six children, Richard Bailey II of Leonidas, Ronald Deb Bailey of Vicksburg, Robert Karen Bailey of Portage, Rodney Lisa Bailey of Kalamazoo, Randy Bailey of Vicksburg, and Rebecca Warren Draper of Lowell; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; Dicks's sister, Mary Stephens of Portage; Dick's sister-in-law, Arlene Bailey, Pensacola, FL; and several nieces and nephews on both sides. Preceding them in death were their parents; Dick's brother, Arthur Bailey; and Rosemary's two brothers, Richard and Gordon Kilgore. Private family services will be held and there will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
