Of Vicksburg Went home to be with his Lord, Friday afternoon August 17, 2012 at the age of 97. Bob was born July 28, 1915 in Kalamazoo to the late John and Alta Lenderink Johnson, John, an engineer for construction, City of Kalamazoo. Family was also Helen, Harry and Virginia. Bob was married to Joan Kokmeyer on November 17, 1939 for 63 years together. She was born August 21, 1919 and preceded him in death on March 9, 2003. Bob went to The Upjohn Company in 1944 and continued for 32 years until he retired in 1978. He took over the head of security for all Upjohn property. During this time, he designed and built a 7 room, 2 story house in Milwood. He was ordained as a Baptist Minister on February 19, 1977 at the Bethlehem Baptist Church and served as Assistant Pastor to Rev. Charles Hulbert. He served as church organist and Sunday School teacher for more than 25 years. He served in Maple View Baptist Church as Sunday School teacher, organist and occasionally preaching. He retired as active pastor of Faith Fellowship Church in 2011 at the age of 96. Bob enjoyed 73 years serving the Lord as Sunday School teacher and minister. In his last days of life, Bob brought two individuals to salvation at the hospital. Serving Christ was the love of his life. Bob and Joan were the loving parents of 5 children, Don Kathy Johnson of Kalamazoo, Carolyn Jim Delach of Kalamazoo, John Paula Johnson of Schoolcraft, Rev. Stan Trish Johnson of Beach Creek, PA and Brian Shannon Johnson of Portage; 12 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services will take place Wednesday, 10:00 o'clock at Valley Family Church, 2500 Vincent Ave., Portage, where family will greet friends on Tuesday from 6-8pm. Arrangements by the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. A private interment will follow at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South.
