Vicksburg, MI Passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 29, 2009. Rev. DePeal was born on March 8, 1915 in Onaway, MI, a son of George and Emma Helemkay DePeal. His career spanned 36 years of active ministry in the Wesleyan Church, pastoring churches in Ohio and Michigan, including 10 years in Kalamazoo. After retiring from full time ministry, he would serve as a guest pastor in many churches. During the past five years, he and his wife, Marie, lived with their daughter and son-in-law at the Nazarene Camp in Vicksburg, where he was an inspiration to other pastors. On December 1, 1939 he married Alice Marie Bruff and had celebrated their 69th Wedding Anniversary last December. Rev. DePeal is also survived by their children, Nancy Jean Donald Logan of Vicksburg, Daniel Edwin Judy DePeal of Walbridge, OH and Lynn James Nancy DePeal of Grand Rapids; 7 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; a sister, Avis Arlene Coleman; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Thomas Meredith DePeal; 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM in the Lighthouse Community Church, 4321 S. 11th St. with Pastor Danny Janes, officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. The visitation will take place at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
