Kalamazoo Rev. Lambert Doezema passed from this life on February 23, 2010 in Kalamazoo. Lamb was born on December 8, 1912 to Riner and Reka Doezema in Grand Rapids, MI. He graduated from Calvin College in 1935 and from the Theological School of the Protestant Reformed Churches in 1938. He and Joanne Hoeksema were married on December 21, 1938 in Grand Rapids and soon thereafter moved to California where he served a church in Bellflower. From 1954 to 1956 he studied theology at the Free University of Amsterdam, where he received the Doctorandus Degree in 1955. Lamb subsequently served churches in Grand Rapids, MI; Drayton, Ontario, Canada; and Parchment, MI. He retired from the ministry in 1977. After retirement, Lamb and Jo served two years in mission schools in Nigeria and one year in the Philippines. Lamb was preceded in death by his wife, Jo, a son, Tom and by his brothers, Charles and William. He is survived by his children, Ryan and his wife, Mary Ellen, Herman and his wife, Frances, David and his wife, Linda, Ruth and her husband, Carlos, Lee and his wife, Sarah and Mary and her husband, Joel; 19 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers and sisters, Angie VanderWal, Harriet and her husband Edward Knott, Edward and his wife, Betty Doezema, Annette and her husband, Herman Hoeksema, Katherine Doezema, and by many nieces and nephews. Lamb is remembered in gentle love by family, friends and former parishioners. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 26 at 2:00 PM in the Third Christian Reformed Church, 2400 Winchell Avenue with Rev. Dr. Kenneth Baker and Rev. Margaret Jenista officiating.
