Of Kalamazoo, Michigan René passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2009 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born April 30, 1990 in Missoula, Montana, the daughter of Mark and Patricia Ponicki Allen. René was a 2008 graduate of Loy Norrix High School in Kalamazoo and currently attending West Michigan College of Barbering and Beauty, where she was expected to graduate next month in Feb. 2009. She was employed by McDonalds for the past 2 years working in the Richland location, until recently moving to the Kalamazoo Stadium Drive location. Surviving are her parents, Mark and Patty Allen; 2 brothers, Jamey Diane Allen of Kalamazoo, and Robert J Allen of Three Rivers; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Henry and Stella Ponicki, and Robert and Muriel Allen. Funeral services for René will be at 11:00 AM on Monday at New Apostolic Church, 2601 Kalarama Ave., with Rev. Peter Cook officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 2-6 PM on Sunday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street.
