Renay Berkowitz

Renay Berkowitz, 83 of Portage, passed away at Bronson Commons on December 29, 2024. She was born on September 8, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York to Max and Mildred (Goldberg) Lerman.

Renay attended James Madison High School, where she met her high school sweetheart Marvin Berkowitz. They were married in Brooklyn on April 2, 1960, and enjoyed over 6 decades of enduring love.

Renay was a loving mother to their three children and enjoyed being a grandmother. Her favorite memories were spent with her family, and she cherished them deeply.

Renay and Marv travelled the world together and visited many countries, favorite destinations were Paris, Rome and London. She was a lover of all animals, but dogs held a special place in her heart, especially dachshunds. She remained an active member and donor of the ASPCA.

Renay was a member of Congregation of Moses and volunteered time at the synagogue gift shop. She was also an avid reader of all genres and authors.

Renay is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Marvin, children Jeffrey, Jonathan (Elizabeth) Berkowitz, and Lisa (Fran) Anello; grandchildren Lauren, Rachael, Joshua, and Joseph; and sister Sharon Cohen. She was preceded in death by her parents Max and Mildred.

A funeral service will be held at Langeland Family Funeral Home 411 East Centre Ave. Portage, MI 49002 on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at 2:00 pm. A graveside service will follow at Jewish Riverside Cemetery.
