Rena went home to be with her Lord on January 23, 2016 at the age of 94. She was born May 12, 1921 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Phillip and Anna (Jager) Mejeur. Rena was a lifelong area resident and had been employed with Hoekstra Hardware and Wenke Greenhouses. She was a longtime member of the Comstock Christian Reformed Church. Family was very important to Rena and in addition to caring for her own family she was always available to help others. On September 20, 1940 she was united in marriage to Jacob DeHaan who preceded her in death on December 30, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her siblings Anne Munger, Nellie Middlebush, Garry Mejeur; and a great-grandchild, Olivia Hansen. Surviving are her daughter Sharon (Robert) Hansen; grandchildren Michael (Mary) Hansen, Steven Hansen and Rebecca (Todd) Rehr; great-grandchildren Katlyn Hansen, Brent Hansen, Sydney Rehr, Emily Rehr, Taylor Hansen, Shelby Hare; a great-great-grandchild Kenslee Rice; siblings Ada Visser, Harriet Jeffrey, Phillip Mejeur; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held 1:00pm Thursday, January 28th at the Comstock Christian Reformed Church (5300 Comstock Ave) with Pastor Ben Hulst officiating. Interment will be in Comstock Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8pm Wednesday, January 27th at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street and from 12-1pm Thursday at the church. Memorials in Rena's memory may be directed to Comstock Christian Reformed Church; or Park Village Pines; or Hospice Care of SW Michigan.
