Comstock Passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2013. Sparky was born on the 4th of July, 1952, a son of Reinard, Sr. and Lena Weststrate Van Oosterum and was a lifelong resident of the area. He had worked for Quality Greenhouses for 35 years and was a member of the Comstock Christian Reformed Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was active on a bowling team. Sparky is survived by his parents, Reinard, Sr. and Lena; a sister, Linda Bruce Prince of Portage; a brother, Robert J. Van Oosterum of Portage; several cousins; and special family friends, the Vanderweele's. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM in the Comstock Christian Reformed Church, 5300 Comstock Ave. with Pastor Ben Hulst officiating. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Kalamazoo Christian School Association or the American Diabetes Association.
