Raynold Barber

BARBER, Raynold Raynold Barber passed away at his home on Friday, March 8, 2013. He was born in Battle Creek, MI on May 1, 1926, a son of the late Arthur W. and Luler May Johnson Barber and had been a Portage resident for many years. He served in the United States Navy during WWII and the Korean War, retiring after 20 years of active service. He was also employed by the US Post Office, retiring in 1986. He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta in 2006 and by 5 brothers and 5 sisters. Raynold is survived by his children, Peggy Ann Steve Jennings of Kalamazoo and Raymond A. Diane Barber of Lawton; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; one sister, Lillian Donehue; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Portage, 1133 East Centre Avenue, with Pastor Chad Wells officiating. Interment will follow at Ft. Custer National Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 East Centre Avenue on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
