Of Kalamazoo, MI Died September 3, 2009 at his residence. Raymond was born November 12, 1937 in Athens, AL, a son of Noah Peek and Pearlie McClendon. He was employed for 20 years at Schafer Bakeries. Raymond was preceded in death by his first wife Judy and by his second wife Betty and by 3 brothers, Ernie, Lonnie and Hubert McClendon. On September 2, 2000, he was married to Anna Miller, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter Michelle James Esman and her son Raymond Sallie Edgerly, who was raised by Raymond as a son; 4 grandchildren, Randy, David, Jr., Amanda and Jimmy, Jr.; 1 great grandson; 3 step children, Chris Lisa Breneman, Angee McCormick and Tina Breneman; 11 step grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Janis Downey, Brenda Siniard McClendon and a brother George Lane McClendon; several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11 am on Saturday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Highway with Barbara VanEck, Chaplain for Borgess Visiting Nurse and Hospice officiating. Interment in Maple Grove Cemetery, Comstock Township. Friends may visit with the family this evening from 6-8 pm at the Comstock Chapel.
