DUNFIELD, Ray G.
of Delton Ray G. Dunfield was born May 16, 1931, in Kalamazoo, the son of Ivan and Frances Kitzmiller Dunfield and has been a lifelong area resident. At the age of 18 he joined the Eastwood Fire Department and came up through the ranks and became Chief from 1962-75. He was also a member of the Kalamazoo Fire Department, Richland Fire Department and Pine Lake Fire Department. Ray started the "Dunfield Fire Department", and owned several antique fire trucks. For many years he owned and operated Ray's Paint & Body Shop. Preceding Ray in death were his parents; two brothers, LeRoy and Donald Dunfield and a sister, Sue Oliver. Surviving are four children: Carla Dunfield, Randy Dunfield, Connie Butler and Colleene Stan Lord; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four siblings, Hiram Dunfield, Robert Beth Dunfield, Kay Dunfield and Bonnie Stacy; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, where a service to celebrate Ray's life will be held 11:00 AM Monday with Pastor Jack Roomsburg officiating. Interment will follow in Grand Prairie Cemetery. A lasting memorial donation may be directed to the family for a fund established in Ray's memory.
