MORGAN, Ralph E.
of Kalamazoo Ralph Earl Morgan was born March 11, 1913 in Washington, Indiana to John P. and Omi Allison Morgan. He was the youngest of 4 children. Growing up in southern Indiana, in high school he played with the winning state champion basketball team, the Washington Hatchets. After graduating from high school, he worked odd jobs earning enough money to attend college and graduated from Purdue University in 1938 with a degree in engineering. It was there he met and married the love of his life Shirley Louise Anderson in 1938. Upon graduation, Ralph was offered a position with the Durametallic Corporation in Kalamazoo to be the engineering department. He is credited with designing some of their pump seals. Ralph and Shirley moved to Kalamazoo where they spent the next forty 40 years. Ralph became very active in the Lions Club, Scottish Rite Order of the Masons, First United Methodist Church and later the Parchment UMC, where he sang with both church choirs. Among Ralph's interests were golf, bowling and traveling, camping with friends and helping others in need. Upon his retirement in 1976, as Vice President in charge of engineering, Ralph and Shirley moved to Tucson Arizona. Ralph continued his favorite past times of golf, bowling and traveling. Ralph and Shirley lived in Tucson for 34 years. Preceding him in death were his parents and wife of 70 years, two brothers Lester and Royal, one sister Ruth, a daughter Ruth Jean, and two sons Timothy J. and infant John David. Surviving are three sons, Thomas D. Sharon, Parham V., Payam V., a niece Kathy, and two daughters-in-law Julia and Sharon. He had 8 grandsons and 19 great-grandchildren. Ralph's greatest passion was doing things with his wife. Together they shared a love for helping others less fortunate. The family requests for those who knew him to honor his memory by giving to charities or passions of your choice. Ralph will be cremated and laid to rest In Tucson, AZ alongside his wife Shirley at the Catalina Methodist Church in their Rose Garden. There will be a gathering for family and friends at the Gull Lake United Methodist Church 8640 Gull Road Richland, MI 49083 on Friday November 12th at 1:00pm. Please see
