NAKKEN, Phyllis Jean
Of Portage Went to be with the Lord, Monday evening, July 25, 2011. Phyllis was born October 23, 1933 in Schoolcraft Township the daughter of Lawrence and Zeta Forsyth Knauss and had been a lifelong resident in the area. She was a longtime member of Third Christian Reformed Church. Phyllis was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and loved spending time with her family, and attending her grandchildren's sporting activities. On May 9, 1953 she was united in marriage to her loving husband, Lavern G. Nakken who preceded her in death on January 7, 2010. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Deborah Nakken. Surviving are her children, Steve Karen Nakken, Susan Terry Brockelbank, Julie Bruce Westbrook; 5 grandchildren, Amanda and Mitchel Nakken, Conner, Cameron and Carson Westbrook; a sister, Patricia Ann Calvin Richman; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 o'clock Friday at the Third Christian Reformed Church, 2400 Winchell Ave, with Rev. Meg Jenista officiating. Private family interment will be in Schoolcraft Cemetery. Friends may meet the family Thursday from 6-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street.
