McGUIRE, Phyllis Gail
Of Portage, Michigan Went home to be with her Lord on Monday November 10, 2008. Phyllis was born February 5, 1948, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of the late Tony and Minnie DeVries Smith. She was a lifelong area resident and had been employed by the State of Michigan Department of Social Services for over 30 years. Phyllis was a longtime member of the First Reformed Church of Portage; she enjoyed bowling and golf; and loved spending time with her family. On June 10, 1967, she was united in marriage to Terry McGuire. Surviving are her husband; her daughter, Shannon McGuire of Portage; her brother, Tony Norma Smith, Jr. of Kalamazoo; several in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Street. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday at First Reformed Church of Portage 7905 S. Westnedge with Rev. Mike Drew and Rev. Ed Martin officiating. A private family interment will be held in Ft. Custer National Cemetery on Friday.
