Galesburg, MI Passed away Tuesday evening, February 17, 2009. Phyllis was born October 13, 1914, in Sebewaing, Michigan, the daughter of Fredrick and Nina Schawalm Hintze. She was employed as a secretary from 1932-76 and retired from Marvane Oil Company. She was a member of the Galesburg United Methodist Church. She was active with the church choir for over 50 years. She was a beautiful musician, composing and performing along with her sisters and nieces in many churches, weddings and events throughout the state. In addition to her music, she enjoyed cooking, gardening and the love of life. Phyllis was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred McLinden; by her second husband, John Lenting, a son, Jeffrey McLinden and by four sisters. Surviving are son, David Suzanne McLinden of Wheaton, Illinois and two grandchildren, Daryl McLinden and Michele Evanger and three great grandchildren; a brother, Jim Hintze of Traverse City and nieces and nephews. In accordance with Phyllis' wishes cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
