Phyllis E. Lawes

Phyllis E. Lawes, age 88 of Kalamazoo, died on October 12, 2023. She was born May 28, 1935, to Elmer and Grace (Winters) Lawes. She was born and raised in Otsego and came to Kalamazoo in 1967. Phyllis worked for Schensuls Cafeteria from 1973-1980. She also worked for Gilmore’s from 1981-1999. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, sisters and brother, and brothers-in-law and nieces and nephew: June (Ralph) Beilby, Virginia (Dick) Lovett, Josephene Lawes, Jean Lawes, Elmer Lawes, Sandra (Chuck) Winkler, Diane Taylor, Sharon Beilby, and Ralph Beilby. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and nephews. Phyllis enjoyed her many friends at Cherokee Westlawn Apartments. The family is very thankful to her friends and kind caregivers at the apartment complex.

Visitation will be held from 3:00-6:00 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 622 S. Burdick Street, Kalamazoo, on Tuesday, October 17th. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 PM at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Tim Morris. A graveside service will be held at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park, South at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
