HUNTER, Phyllis E. Kalamazoo Passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 21, 2007. She was born August 23, 1926 in Ishpeming, MI the daughter of John Oscar and Hilda Millamaki Jacobson and had lived in the Kalamazoo area since 1954. Phyllis was a 1948 graduate of the Grant Hospital School of Nursing and had worked for Bronson Methodist Hospital for 35 years, retiring in 1989. In Kalamazoo, she was a very active member of First Congregational Church, where she served as a Deacon and was active in guilds and on committees. She also volunteered for Loaves and Fishes for 18 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Robert Oakes Hunter on January 10, 1989. Phyllis is survived by her children, Robert Swan Hunter of Kalamazoo, John Oakes Patsy Hunter of Kalamazoo and Amy Louise Cynthia M. Hunter of Kalamazoo; 3 grandchildren, Jeremy Dale Lora Hunter, Allison Hunter and Brendan Robert Hunter; 1 great granddaughter, Olivia Rose Hunter; a sister, Jane Russell of IL; two former daughters-in-law, Sue Steven Johns and Cathleen Hunter, all of Portage; cousins, Sue Jack Overzet of La Peer, MI and David Marilyn Grayes of Negaunee, MI; a niece, Debra Jones of FL; and many, many friends who will miss her very much. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has take place and a Memorial Service will be conducted on Tuesday at 2:00 PM in the First Congregational Church, 129 S. Park St. with Rev. Matthew W. Laney and Rev. Priscilla Mc Dougal officiating. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Loaves and Fishes or the charity of one?s choice.
