Phyllis T. Garrett

Phyllis J. Garrett, age 77 of Lowell formerly of Portage, died on February 21, 2024. She was born on April 22, 1946, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Stanley and Thelma (Miller) Neal. Phyllis grew up on the family farm helping her dad with the crops. They had a farm stand on Riverview Drive selling the strawberries and corn. Phyllis was a 1964 graduate of Plainwell High School. One night at Schwartz’s Drive In, Phyllis met Richard Garrett. They were married on Valentine’s Day in 1965. They had two sons and the family moved to Lowell, Michigan in 1984. They always cherished the years spent in Portage. Phyllis had sold antiques at the Bank Street Market in Kalamazoo and worked at the Lowell Antique Mall when she moved. She enjoyed flowers and gardening. Her family loved her cooking and baked goods. Her family includes her husband of 59 years, Richard Garrett; her sons: Brian Garrett and Bradley Garrett; her grandchildren: Madeleine Dodson-Garrett (her fiancé Travis Holpuch) and Sennett Dodson-Garrett; her sister Diana; and her beloved Dachshunds Zoe and Lizzy. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Stanley, Jr. “Buck”, Delores and Eileen.
