SLAUGHTER, Phillip D.
Of Climax Phil passed away Monday morning, September 19, 2011 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born July 8, 1938 in Bangor, MI, the son of the late Ernest and Martha Hudson Slaughter. Phil was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1956-1958. On June 20, 1980, he was united in marriage to the former Leona Pierce. Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Leona Slaughter; his 2 sons, Ken Melinda Slaughter of Scotts and Tim Lori Slaughter of Mendon; 4 step-children, Debbie Rick Stuck of Battle Creek, Dawn Gary Cole of Battle Creek, Daniel Reschner of Athens and Denise Ken Andersen of Climax; 20 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may gather to celebrate Phil's life on Friday from 12-2 PM at the Climax-Scotts American Legion Post #465, 6101 S. 44th Street, Climax. Private family interment with military honors will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to West Michigan Cancer Center.
