CURRIE, Philip M.
Of Comstock Philip passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 3, 2010 at Borgess Medical Center. He was born January 8, 1941 in Jackson, the son of William and Bernice Ellinger Currie. Phil worked as a barber for both Rice's Barber Shop and John's Hair Care in Kalamazoo for 20 years. He most recently worked for over 20 years for Direct Services, Inc. until his retirement in 2003. On August 14, 1971, Phil was united in marriage to Rebecca Martin in Kalamazoo. He attended The Radiant Church in Richland. He was an avid racing fan and loved watching NASCAR. Phil loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Rebecca Currie; four children, Babbette Tim Green of Hopkins, Tamara Michael Angle of New Orleans, LA, Jason Myra Currie of Comstock, and Kathryn Ken Town of Comstock; and 15 grandchildren, Ashley, Rachel, Janelle, Michael, Jennifer, Johnathon, Domonic, Dante, Donovan, Damon, Devonne, Alexa, Austin, Angel, and Kaci. Preceding him in death were his one daughter, Nellie Hess; his parents; and one brother, Dan Currie. Funeral services for Phil will be at 11:00 AM on Monday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Highway, with Pastor Jon Zondervan officiating. Interment will follow in Comstock Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2-5 PM on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to The Radiant Church.
