BUSHHOUSE, Philip L.
of Kalamazoo, Michigan Went to be with his Lord on November 17, 2010 at Bronson Hospital, after a brief illness. He was born September 21, 1931 in Kalamazoo to the late George and Alta Coates Bushhouse. Phil was united in marriage to Mary Lowe on June 12, 1953, who survives. Phil taught school at Ada Christian for 2 years, North Christian for 7 years and at Kalamazoo Christian High School for 25 years until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the Parchment Christian Reformed Church where he served as both, elder and deacon. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Also surviving Phil are his children, Ruth Bill Wiersma of Delton, MI, Sharon Jon Harrington of Kalamazoo and Joye Bushhouse of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Elwin Mindy Holmes, Erika Derek Wykstra, Michelle Harrington, Nicole Harrington and Brianne Wiersma; great grandchildren, Anna DuPuis and Benjamin Wykstra; 3 step-grandchildren; brothers, Stanley Alice Bushhouse and Calvin Joann Bushhouse; and several nieces and nephews. Also preceding Phil in death was a sister, Juanita Ouding. Family will greet friends on Thursday from 6-8:00 o'clock and Friday from 2-4 and 6-8:00 o'clock at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. A Memorial service will take place on Saturday, 11:00 o'clock at Parchment Christian Reformed Church, Pastor Kevin Heeres, officiating. A private committal will take place at East Cooper Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Kuyper College for the Bushhouse Missionary Scholarship and to Parchment Christian Reformed Church.
