WEYENBERG, Peter, Sr.
of Scotts Passed away Sunday, September 18, 2011 in Kalamazoo. Peter was born May 31, 1916 in Grand Rapids, MI the son of Jacob and Hattie Garnaat Weyenberg. He graduated from Portage Central High School, where he was a track star. For over 60 years, Peter owned and operated Weyenberg Upholstery Shop of Kalamazoo. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances, on December 2, 1985; his parents; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Bonnie Weyenberg; 3 brothers and 1 sister. Surviving are his wife, Judy; his children, Sharen Maury Burke of Kalamazoo, Jeff Weyenberg of Kalamazoo, Peter, Jr. Lou Weyenberg of Comstock, Kay Alan Roekle of Jackson, Fay Don Lawler of Kalamazoo and Jill Leendert Bamberg of Mendon; step-children, Linda Dennis Bruce of Kalamazoo, Rick Jan Spencer of Battle Creek and Brad Spencer of FL; 16 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; a brother, Jacob Weyenberg; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave., with Rev Harold Cupery officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family for final expenses.
