VAN DEN BERG, Peter E. Age 79
Of Kalamazoo Peter went to be with the Lord Monday morning, March 15, 2010 at Alamo Nursing Home. He was born February 27, 1931 in Kalamazoo, the son of Peter and Nellie Vroegindewey VanDenBerg. On September 8, 1950, he was united in marriage to Anna Jean Napp in Kalamazoo. Peter worked as a carpenter for over 40 years, employed by Western Michigan University for 12 years, Miller-Davis Company for 16 years and self-employed for several years. He was a member of Second Christian Reformed Church. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Anna VanDenBerg; their two children, Dennis Janice VanDenBerg of Kalamazoo, and Cynthia Jeff Beak of Mattawan; three grandchildren, Kristina VanDenBerg, Karen VanDenBerg, and Jaidan Beak; great-grandson, Jared Hotrum; step-grandchildren, Jayna Scott VandenBerg, Karen Mike Bolle; and Steven Sheri Pott; 7 step-great-grandchildren, Allison, Carlie, Josie, Emily, Maleah, Caiden, and Dominic; 1 sister, Arlene Cooper of Grand Rapids; and several nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law. Preceding him in death were his parents; and one son, Terry VanDenBerg on May 19, 1964. Funeral services for Peter will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday at Second Christian Reformed Church, 3015 Nichols Road, with Rev. Dr. Warren E. Lammers and Pastor Bill Napp officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 PM on Wednesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street. Private interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to Second Christian Reformed Church, Kalamazoo Gospel Mission or Alamo Nursing Home.
