Peter J Livingston

Passed away unexpectedly Monday morning, June 1, 2020 at his home. Peter was born May 12, 1959 in Port Huron, MI the son of John and Mary (Anglebrandt) Livingston.

Peter joined the Honigman Business Law Firm as a Corporate Partner in 2014 after a distinguished career at Varnum LLP, where he served as Chair of the Corporate Department and Managing Partner. He also worked with Howard & Howard Attorneys, P.C. and Ernst & Young in Kalamazoo. Peter was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Notre Dame Law School.

Peter's legacy is the positive influence he had on so many lives. He shared his intellect as a trusted mentor to many, both personally and professionally. Peter's unending dedication to the betterment of the general community is well known and highly admired. Peter's previous notable community leadership roles include serving as the President of the Portage Educational Foundation, Chairman of the Small Business Council of the Kalamazoo County Chamber of Commerce, and President of the Kalamazoo Country Club, among many others.

Sports played a significant role in Peter's life; he excelled as a young athlete in baseball, football, and hockey, and later went on to touch hundreds of young lives coaching youth sports. He treasured spending time on the golf course with his children and friends. Peter will be fondly remembered for his exceptional integrity, wisdom, generosity, unmatched work ethic, and sharp sense of humor.

Throughout his career Peter earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues and clients, but his most cherished roles were that of loving husband and devoted father. On October 19, 1985 he was united in marriage to Connie (Miller), who survives. Also surviving are his children, Margaret (Aaron) Szarowicz, Jack (Hannah) Livingston, Joseph Livingston, Laura Livingston; parents, John and Mary Livingston; and his brother, Andrew Livingston. Cremation has taken place. A mass to celebrate his life will be announced at a later date.

Peter was selfless and endlessly generous with his time and expertise. He never sought affirmation or notoriety. His greatest satisfaction came from knowing he had helped to better the lives of others.
