Peggy A. Smith

SMITH, Mrs. Peggy A. Galesburg Passed away Friday morning March 23, 2007, at Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. Peggy was born August 6, 1936 in Norfolk, VA, a daughter of the late James and Gladys Fretwell Purdy. She married Donald L. Smith at The Scotts United Methodist Church, on January 11, 1958. They were married for 49 years. Peggy was co-owner and bookkeeper of Don?s I-94 & 35th St. Sunoco in Galesburg, for 21 years. She was also a co-founder of the Jammin Music Club of Scott?s, MI. She enjoyed country music and dancing. Her biggest passion was being involved with all the grandchildren. Peggy was also a member of the Grand Rapids Flathead V-8 Auto Club. Surviving Peggy are; her husband, Don, children, Marcy Loretta Noora of Galesburg, Barry Cindi Noora of Battle Creek, Linda Mick TerBerg of Portage, Jim Jerri Smith of Portage; grandchildren, Amy, Tammy, Mitchell and Shawny Noora, Tony, Michael and Christopher Noora, Katie TerBerg, Adam and Matthew Smith; 6 great grandchildren; her sister, Dixie Holt of Tampa, FL; many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was a brother, Billy Purdy. Visitation will be at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 West Battle Creek St., Sunday, March 25, 2007 from 3 ? 7:00PM. Services will take place 1:00PM, Monday at Galesburg United Methodist Church,111 West Battle Creek St. with the Rev. James Dyke officiating. Memorials may be directed to the Lupus Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.
