Scotts Pearl passed away Friday, March 16, 2012 in Hartselle, AL. Pearl was born January 31, 1919 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of George and Matilda Scharping Green and lived in Kalamazoo for many years before moving to Alabama in 2007. She was employed by the Shakespeare Company for 12 years and retired from Checker Motors in 1983 after 17 years of service. She was a member of the Scotts United Methodist Church, where she helped with many meals and also helped with breakfasts at the Climax United Methodist Church. On August 22, 1935, she married Ward E. Simmons, who preceded her in death on July 3, 1985. On May 16, 2000 she married Joe Fico, who preceded her in death on May 28, 2001. She was also preceded by her parents; two sons, Lyle E. Simmons in 1963 and Wendell Lee Simmons in 1986; a grandson, Lyle E. Simmons, Jr. in 1963; her sister, Hazel Anderson; and three brothers, Leo Green, Ralph Green and Harold Green. Pearl is survived by her 4 grandchildren, Michael Simmons of Allegan, Teresa King, Karen Griffith and Wendell Simmons, Jr., all of Hartselle, AL; 13 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; her sister, Helen Worden of Climax; one niece and two nephews. Funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, at 11:00 AM in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Climax Chapel, 205 E. Maple St, with Mr. Jerry Carpenter, officiating. Interment will follow in the Prairie Home Cemetery, Climax.
