MIELKE, Paul Edwin, Sr.
of Portage, Michigan Passed away Monday, December 9, 2013 at his home with his family by his side. Paul "Milkbone" Mielke was born February 23, 1950 in Kalamazoo, the son of the late Theodore A. and Grace M. Loveland Doest. He was a graduate of Loy Norrix in 1968 and was active in track, field and wrestling. He was joined in marriage to Renee Ross on April 25th 1987 and enjoyed 26 years of wedded bliss. Renee survives He was an appliance repair technician for General Electric for 13 years and was self-employed for 30 years as Mielke's Appliance Service. He was an avid fisherman, golfer, bowler, and gun enthusiast. He loved his family and his dogs. He was lovingly known by his grandchildren as Grandpappy. Paul is survived by their children, Paul Edwin, Jr. and Margot Mielke of Kalamazoo, Sandra Joseph Phillips of Vicksburg and Michelle Grace Mielke of Portage; 3 grandchildren Kenzie, Ali, and Lukas; two sisters, Jackie Tomak and Dixie Tibbits; two brothers, Bill and Larry Mielke; nieces and nephews. Being a lifelong Detroit Tigers fan a Memorial Service will be held at 1:05 PM Just like the first pitch at a day game, on Saturday, December 14, 2013 in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E Centre Ave. with Pastor Scott Anderson, officiating. The visitation for Paul will begin at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, prior to the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission or The West Michigan Cancer Center.
