KLEIS, Paul M.
of Kalamazoo, Michigan Passed away Tuesday evening, June 26, 2012 at his residence. Paul was born November 9, 1926 in Holland, MI the son of the late Clarence and Gladys Kronemeyer Kleis. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was employed in the food service industry with Swift and Company and the Saga Corporation for 35 years. Paul was a member of First and Second Reformed Church where he served as deacon. Paul enjoyed riding horses, golf, and doing volunteer work for several different organizations. He especially enjoyed the Air Zoo, Habitat for Humanity, and SCORE. He was a recipient of the Star Award given to volunteers. On February 24, 1950 he was united in marriage to his loving wife, the former Lois Rameau, who survives. Also surviving are 5 children, Tim Judy Kleis, Mark Kleis, Rebecca John Wruble, Julie Keith Bramer, Thomas Michelle Kleis; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother, Myra Berry, Rev. Dr. Carl Kleis, Glennyce Ivan Moerman; and several nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by a brother, John Kleis; sister-in-law, Helen Kleis; and brother-in-law, Roy Berry. A memorial service to celebrate Paul's life will be held at 12:00 Thursday, July 5, at the Second Reformed Church, 2323 Stadium Dr. Friends may meet the family from 11:00-12:00 at the church prior to the service. Private family interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Second Reformed Church.
